MANILA - The number of Filipinos abroad sick with COVID-19 surpassed 9,000, with 21 new infections recorded Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

In its latest bulletin, the DFA reported no new coronavirus-related fatality. The death toll stood at 634.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 survivors remained at 5,321, with no new recoveries also reported.

"The DFA reminds all our nationals abroad to continuously cooperate with local health authorities, as we all work together and take proactive action in fighting against and preventing the spread of the pandemic," the agency said in a statement.

To date, some 3,046 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 149 in the Asia-Pacific, 505 in Europe, 2,273 in the Middle East and Africa and 119 in the Americas.

To date, some 65,304 people have fallen ill to COVID-19 in the Philippines. The tally includes 1,773 fatalities and 22,067 recoveries. -- With a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
