COTABATO - Two Filipinos have been reported missing since Wednesday after they were reportedly swept by high waves on a beach in Phuket, Thailand.

Authorities identified the missing persons as Noah Ibay and Angelo Bien Rafael Cortez.

The two men were among a group of 13 tourists from Cotabato City and Parang, Maguindanao who went to Freedom Beach in Phuket.

Parang Mayor Cahar Ibay earlier sent a letter addressed to Thailand’s Ambassador to the Philippines Vasin Ruangprateepsaeng, asking assistance to rescue Ibay and Cortez.

Ibay said his office was informed the rescue operation is still ongoing but it was temporarily suspended due to bad weather conditions.

Families of the two missing tourists are now asking for prayers for the safety of Ibay and Cortez.
