MANILA– Former Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno is the new chairman of the North Luzon Railways Corp. (NLRC), a state-run firm tasked to oversee the development of a railway system that links the capital to the north.
President Rodrigo Duterte signed Moreno’s appointment paper on July 12. The actor-turned politician will serve the unexpired term of Jose Aliling, who was supposed to step down from the board on June 30, 2018.
In a separate interview, Moreno confirmed that the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), the parent firm of NLRC, approved his nomination.
“I am honored and humbled to be given the chance to work in the government again, although in a different capacity,” Moreno said in a statement sent to ABS-CBN News.
“I’d like to thank the President for the trust and confidence,” he said.
Moreno, Francisco Domagoso in real life, lost his senatorial bid in 2016 after serving three consecutive terms as Manila Vice Mayor.
