MANILA - House Speaker Sonny Belmonte is staying with the Liberal Party with most of the party members opting to join the minority.
"I am staying with LP and the LP, at least the portion of the LP, had opted to become the minority. We welcome anybody of any color - our former allies or any of them, party-list people - to join the minority. It is not ours; it's for everybody who is minded to do it. We will accept them."
Belmonte added that the LP will become minority party.
The Quezon City congressman earlier said the LP will be joining the coalition led by President Rodrigo Duterte in the House of Representatives.
He said he will not challenge the Speakership bid of Duterte's choice, Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez.
