CEBU CITY- To determine who accidentally shot a 4-year-old boy during a buy-bust operation in Cebu, the National Bureau of Investigation led a reenactment of the shooting incident.
This, after the boy's family sought the agency's help to find out whether the stray bullet that killed the boy came from a police rifle or a drug suspect's firearm.
Dr. Rene Cam, medico-legal officer, said that a re-autopsy of the boy's remains was no longer necessary since it has been established that the trajectory of the stray bullet was upward.
The bullet went through the right chest portion of the boy's body, Cam added.
The NBI also discovered a backdoor exit in an abandoned structure where the subjects may have escaped.
Dominador Cimafranca, regional director of NBI Central Visayas, said a consolidated report will soon be submitted to the agency's headquarters in Manila.
At least 4 policemen involved in the raid have been removed from their posts to give way to a ballistic exam that will compare their firearms to the slug found on the boy's body.
Police earlier said the bullet that killed the child came from the suspect.
