ILOILO -A barangay official voluntarily submitted himself to the Iloilo City police Monday afternoon.
Brgy. Kagawad Jesus "Jing-Jing" Espinosa Jr. of Brgy. Monica City Proper submitted an affidavit stating his commitment and cooperation in the campaign against illegal drugs.
He said in the affidavit that he is willing to submit himself to a drug test and rehabilitation if needed.
After giving information to the authorities and submitting his affidavit, he went home with his family.
Chief Insp. Rio Maymay welcomed Espinosa's move. Espinosa, according to Maymay, is included in their list of drug pushers.
In an exclusive statement to ABS-CBN News, Espinosa said he is willing to cooperate with the authorities and he is also willing to fight illegal drugs especially in their barangay.
Espinosa's wife is the incumbent barangay captain of their barangay. Espinosa is also allegedly one of the men who attempted to enter a local radio station in Iloilo City in November 2015.
He was identified by City Councilor Plaridel Nava, based on CCTV footage. The radio station has been known for its strong campaign against illegal drugs.
As of Monday, around 470 drug pushers, users and runners have submitted themselves to Police Station 1 according to Maymay.
