MANILA-- The LRT-2 management has prohibited talking and answering phone calls inside trains as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Talking with other passengers and answering phone calls are banned while traveling to avoid possible transmission of the virus, the LRT-2 management said in a tweet on Thursday.

"As an added safety measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in LRT-2, we will strictly implement the 'No Talking' policy," it said.

Passengers were also asked to properly wear their face masks inside the trains.

Earlier the MRT-3 also barred talking inside its trains after dozens of its workers caught the virus.

The World Health Organization had said that coronavirus may linger in the air in crowded indoor spaces, although it described this form of transmission as rare and possibly insignificant.
