MANILA - After snagging their preferred committees, President Rodrigo Duterte’s closest allies in the Senate will also get their wish to be seated together, sources told ABS-CBN News.
Senate sources said neophyte senators Francis Tolentino, Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, and Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go will sit beside each other at the Senate Session Hall after the chamber’s secretariat approved their request.
Tolentino, Dela Rosa and Go will sit on the fourth and last row at the session hall, which was occupied by former senators Gregorio Honasan and Loren Legarda, and incumbent Sen. Nancy Binay in the last session.
Binay is expected to sit beside Senators Joel Villanueva, Sonny Angara, Sherwin Gatchalian and Juan Miguel Zubiri.
The three neophytes have also been assigned their respective offices. Go now occupies Honasan’s office, while Tolentino was given the office of former Sen. JV Ejercito. Dela Rosa, meanwhile, is now occupying Zubiri's former extension office.
As for committee chairmanships, Go is considered one of the biggest winners among the neophyte senators, bagging four committees. Duterte's former aide is expected to head the committees on health, sports, urban planning, and the oversight committee for Marawi rehabilitation.
Senators also count on him to serve as the de facto liaison officer to the President.
Dela Rosa will head the public order and peace, unification and reconciliation committees, while Tolentino will chair the local government and science and technology committees.
