Palace suspends public school classes in Metro Manila

MANILA - (UPDATE) Malacañang has suspended classes in public schools and work in the executive branch in Metro Manila beginning 1 pm, Tuesday, due to the inclement weather.

The Palace said classes at all levels in public schools and government work are suspended starting 1 p.m., July 17.

“The suspension of work for private companies, offices, and schools is left to the discretion of their respective heads,” the Palace said in its Memorandum Circular 47.

Work in government offices involved in the delivery of basic services and emergency response shall continue their operations, the Palace said.

The House of Representatives and Supreme Court has suspended work in its offices effective 1:00 pm and 12:00 pm, respectively. 

MMDA also suspended number coding for city buses and private vehicles for roads under its jurisdiction.
