MANDAUE CITY—The people who pledged on the internet to make the dream wedding of a couple who lost their child and home just weeks apart in June delivered on their promise.
And it wasn’t just any promise, they gave Jay and Runabel Remorta a memorable ceremony at San Roque Parish Church in Barangay Subangdaku in this city Tuesday.
The story went viral after wedding supplier Ana Louise San Pedro posted a request on Facebook for flowers on the couple's wedding day after misfortune dealt a blow to their finances.
The couple lost one of their twins to sepsis and other complications on June 2. Weeks later, they lost their house to a fire that struck their barangay.
The request was answered by netizens pledging help to make the couple's wedding a reality.
San Pedro and events planner Carlo Abaquita collaborated and ironed out a grand ceremony in just 5 days..
From church decors, bridal gown, suits, the entire entourage’s wardrobe, bridal car, cakes, catering services, venue, lights and sounds, LED screen, grand ceiling, to a playground for kids—all were provided for free by Cebuano suppliers.
Abaquita acknowledged it was quite a challenge arranging a grand wedding, which normally takes a year to plan, in just days.
He added he was quite surprised with the number of suppliers that extended their services to the couple.
The couple acknowledged they could not believe the help they received, but there is more to come apparently.
Abaquita, along with other wedding suppliers, are planning to do a fundraiser to help the couple pay their son’s hospital fees.
