Sulu jailbreak leaves several inmates dead

MANILA (UPDATED) - At least three inmates were killed during a jailbreak at the Jolo Municipal Station Detention Cell at around 1:30 AM Sunday.

The fatalities were identified as Julbig Alinjani, Budda Basali, Midzfar A Sabli, all facing drug cases.

According to Senior Supt. Mario Buyuccan, chief of the Sulu PNP, one inmate, identified as Gummi Maimbung, was also wounded.

Initial reports said 38 inmates attempted to escape, but most were recaptured thanks to the swift response of authorities.

According to ARMM Police chief Senior Superintendent Reuben Sindac, ten other inmates remain at large.

They were identified as Makrim Habbisi, Alsimar Basali, Nasir Maldam, Albin Alibasa, Julhaber Sariol, Benjie Pandoga, Mustafa Sarapuddinm Haber Kasim, Benjamine Baker, and Tano Hadjula.

The inmates, either suspected Abu Sayyaf members or drug dealers, are now being pursued by the police and military.--with reports from Henry Atuelan, ABS-CBN News
