MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday 43 more Filipinos abroad were sick with COVID-19, raising the total tally of overseas infections among Philippine nationals to 8,915.
In its latest bulletin, the foreign ministry said the number of those who recovered from COVID-19 is also up by 34 to 5,311.
There is no new coronavirus-related fatality. The death toll stood at 618.
“As we celebrate World Youth Skills Day today, the DFA commits to not only monitoring the status of our people abroad but also in continuing its efforts to promote their welfare and development, including the youth, during and beyond this current crisis we are in.,” the DFA said in a statement.
To date, 2,986 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 128 in the Asia Pacific Region, 498 in Europe, 2,240 in the Middle East and Africa and 120 in the Americas.
In the Philippines, the novel coronavirus has so far sickened 58,850 people. The tally includes 1,614 deaths and 20,976 recoveries.
