President Rodrigo Duterte will deliver a "possibly longer but more meaningful" speech for his second State of the Nation Address, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Saturday.
"Last year, wala pa tayong masyadong accomplishments kasi kakaupo lang ng pangulo. Ngayon marami na ang nagbenefit, posibleng mas mahaba ang sona this year," Andanar said in an interview on radio DZMM.
"Expect na magiging meaningful ang SONA na ito dahil hindi technical katulad nung huling SONA," Andanar added.
Duterte may also announce new policies during his SONA that will be delivered at the Batasang Pambansa on July 24, the official said.
"Kapag passionate siya sa isang idea, biglang mag-a-attribute ang pangulo. Hindi natin alam, baka may bagong mga polisiya ang pangulo na gusto niya i-introduce sa isang bansa (sa SONA)," he said.
AUDIO VISUAL MATERIALS
The Communications department's proposed audio-visual materials that will be flashed during the President's speech has yet to be approved, Andanar said.
He said photo brochures showing "project beneficiaries" and the president's "working shots" will be distributed to those who will be seated in the gallery.
Interpreters will also be provided for foreign dignitaries who will attend the event.
"Magkakaroon ng interpreters for English, Mandarin, Nihonggo, and Spanish. We will see if we have Russian and French," Andanar said.
The Communications chief said the President's barong for his second SONA may be designed either by Duterte's favorite designer from Davao or another tailor from Cagayan de Oro.
Andanar said the design will be simple, as the president opts for low-key garments.
"Sigurado ako simple lang ang magiging damit. Hindi siya mag-eencourgae ng fashion show," he said.
