MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday 3 more Filipinos abroad have caught COVID-19, raising the total tally of overseas infections among Philippine nationals to 8,872.
In its latest bulletin, the foreign ministry reported no new coronavirus-related fatality. The death toll stood at 618.
Meanwhile, another overseas Filipino in the Middle East recovered from COVID-19, pushing the tally to 5,277.
"As countries continue to battle against and slowly recover from the impacts of the pandemic, the DFA remains resolute in assisting our nationals, whenever and wherever possible," the agency said in a statement.
To date, some 2,977 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 126 in the Asia-Pacific, 490 in Europe, 2,241 in the Middle East and Africa, and 120 in the Americas.
In the Philippines, the number of COVID-19 reached 57,545, with 634 new infections reported Tuesday. The tally includes 1,603 fatalities and 20,459 recoveries. - With a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
