The Cordillera region renews its push for autonomy despite two failed attempts in the 1990s.

Lawyer Benedicto Bacani, executive director of the Institute for Autonomy and Governance, said their proposed bill is less contentious than the Bangsamoro Basic Law.

Although there are similarities between the Bangsamoro's and Cordillera's fight for self-determination, Bacani explained that the Cordilleras are more concerned about protecting their identity and natural resources.
