CEBU – A female resort manager was shot dead by a gunman riding in tandem on board a motorcycle in Lapu-lapu City Tuesday.

Luz Empleo Bensi and her helper were crossing the street towards her house in Sitio Butterfly 2, Barangay Babag Uno when she was shot thrice—once from afar and two in the head--by the gunman around 9 p.m.

Her helper was said to be shot too but escaped.

Witnesses said the gunman was wearing a black t-shirt but had no head covering. The motorcycle driver meanwhile was also wearing black but had on a helmet.

After shooting the victim, the gunman then took her shoulder bag which contained her personal belongings.

According to the Barangay, the victim had lodged several complaints against relatives of her ex-husband who is a retired policeman. Some of the complaints, which the barangay did not disclose, were settled but fights between the two parties continued.

The Homicide Section of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office also refused to be interviewed but said they are looking into theft as the motive in the incident.
