MANILA - Quiapo Church in Manila welcomed 100 devotees on Sunday as government allowed churches in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) to accommodate 10 percent of its capacity.

The church first opened its doors to more devotees on Friday. Attendees must wear a mask, take temperature and sanitation checks, and step on a foot bath before being allowed inside the sanctuary.

Physical distancing is strictly imposed inside and outside the basilica.

Attendees who did not make it inside listened to the Sunday Mass on their bikes and inside their vehicles at the parking lot.

Msgr. Hernando Coronel prayed for ABS-CBN after lawmakers denied the country's largest broadcasting firm a fresh 25-year franchise.

Government previously imposed a 10-people limit on religious gatherings in places of worship under GCQ areas to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

President Rodrigo Duterte has extended Metro Manila's GCQ status until July 15, while Cebu City is still under the enhanced community quarantine due to rising number of COVID-19 cases.
