MANILA—The Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) on Thursday rescued 8 women, 4 of whom were minors, in separate anti-human trafficking operations in Pasig and Pateros.
WCPC operatives raided a motel in Pasig where an alleged pimp brought 4 women to an undercover law enforcer who posed as a customer.
Authorities immediately arrested the alleged pimp identified as Lovely and rescued the 4 women, two of whom were minors.
In Pateros, 4 women were also rescued at a motel in Barangay Santo Rosario.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Mina, Luzon field unit chief of the PNP WCPC, the women were allegedly offered via Facebook.
“Mga batang estudyante 16 anyos pababa ang iniaalok ng mga suspek sa mga customer,” Mina said.
The victims’ photos were posted online for customers to pick.
The transaction happened on Facebook, where details such as time, date, venue and price were finalized.
The suspects will be charged for violating the Anti Child Abuse Law and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
The victims are under the custody of the WCPC while they are debriefed.
