MANILA - Three members of the bandit Abu Sayyaf Group were killed in an encounter with government troops in Indanan town, Sulu, military officials said Thursday.
The firefight in Barangay Kuppong lasted about two minutes and no soldier was killed in the incident, the Western Mindanao Command said in a statement.
One of the slain terrorists was identified as Pakan Sakam Sappari, a "a skilled sea navigator" involved in "several kidnapping activities," said Brig. Gen. Divino Rey Pabayo, Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu.
Authorities have yet to identify the other two slain in the firefight.
