Dozens of students hospitalized in Davao Oriental

MATI CITY, Davao Oriental - At least 123 female high school students of Lawigan National High School were rushed to the hospital after complaining of stomach ache and dizziness on Tuesday morning.

The initial headcount of affected students was initially 72 but more students reported of stomach ache.

Provincial police reported that students felt ill an hour after the school distributed folic acid to grade 7 to grade 10 female students as part of its weekly iron folic acid program.

The students were immediately brought to Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center for treatment.

Some students are now in stable condition and have been advised to return to their respective homes, but 24 remain in the hospital.
