MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte, who is known for deviating from prepared speeches, will finish his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in 35 minutes, officials said Tuesday.
Duterte promised to read from prepared remarks during his third state of the nation address on July 23, said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said the speech could last for 30 minutes.
"Sinabi po ng Presidente na babasahin po niya ang kanyang SONA speech, at ito po ay hindi tatagal nang 35 minutes," Roque told reporters in Indang, Cavite.
Roque said the President met with the head of his economic cluster to the discuss the achievements of different departments.
Duterte's SONA, which included jokes and impromptu remarks, last year lasted for 120 minutes. It was 12,527-words long, the longest one delivered after 1986 EDSA Revolution.
