MANILA - Police authorities said Monday they are eyeing 3 persons of interest in the killing of a mayor in Cavite last week.
Senior Superintendent William Segun, chief of Cavite's provincial police, said CCTV footage near the crime scene showed a black pickup truck allegedly used by the killers of Trece Martires Vice Mayor Alex Lubigan and his assistant, Romulo Guillemer.
Segun said the video showed how the black pickup truck kept on showing up near the crime scene several minutes before and after the incident.
Footage further revealed that the vehicle was headed to Malainen in Naic, Cavite. Police have already formed a task force to investigate the killings.
Meanwhile, autopsy results showed the vice mayor sustained a gunshot wound on the right arm, while Gullemer sustained a gunshot wound in the head.
Vice Mayor Lubigan and Guillemer were in their vehicle when the gunman, aboard an SUV, shot at them along the Trece Martires–Indang Road.
The shooting came after the killing of Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili who was shot during a flag-raising ceremony in city hall.
