MANILA- The Sandiganbayan moved Monday the hearing on the plunder case of former senator Jinggoy Estrada and alleged pork barrel scam mastermind, businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, to Aug. 5.
The court's 5th division was supposed to start Monday the hearing for the presentation of evidence of Estrada and Napoles but Associate Justice Maria Theresa Mendoza-Arcega reset the hearing after giving the prosecution 5 days to comment on Estrada and Napoles' additional appeal to reconsider their defense.
The court has yet to resolve the appeal of Estrada and Napoles on the denial of their demurrers to evidence or petition to trash the prosecution's evidence.
Government prosecutors had insisted Estrada got more than P70 million as kickbacks from Napoles, citing a report from the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
