ILOCOCS SUR--Two establishments in two different places in Ilocos Sur fell victim to robbers this week.
In Barangay Balaleng in the town of Bantay, employees of a hardware store found a hole on the galvanized roof of their building. Inside, drawers were opened and more than P100,000 in cash was missing.
Authorities said the perpetrators may have climbed a nearby post to get into the store.
The crime may have been committed on Thursday night when nobody was in the store.
In the city of Vigan, meanwhile, employees of LBC Express found the door of their office forcibly opened.
When they entered, they saw papers and other objects scattered all over the place.
Some packages had also been opened, and two company-owned cellphones were missing.
Based on initial investigation of the Vigan police, the robbers used the door of the adjacent establishment as point of entry.
Police said the robbers were able to enter the building easily because the next-door property was being renovated.
Authorities said there is a CCTV camera inside the establishment, but it was not functioning properly. There was also no security guard in the area.
Police believe the break-in also happened on Thursday night.
Police are investigating whether the same robbers are behind the two incidents.
