MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has named lawyer Guiling Mamondiong as chief of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Mamondiong was an undersecretary for rails of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) during the Arroyo administration.
He takes over from Irene Isaac, officer-in-charge of the TESDA after the resignation of Joel Villanueva, who ran for senator in the May 9 polls under the administration Liberal Party.
Villanueva came a surprise second in the senatorial elections.
Mamondiong helped in the Duterte presidential campaign by getting volunteers for the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Coordinating Committee.
TESDA, established in 1994, promotes technical-vocational education and training in the country with the help of industry, labor, and local government.
