MANILA - CNN Philippines said it will go off air beginning Tuesday evening after a member of its utility staff tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a statement, the company said it will temporarily go off air to give way to the disinfection of its office in Mandaluyong City.
"As a precaution and for everybody's safety, we are temporarily going off the air starting tonight to disinfect the CNN Philippines office in Mandaluyong," it said.
The company said it has prepared for the scenario and many of its staff have been working from home.
It will continue to provide news through its website and social media platforms.
As of Tuesday, the Philippines recorded 1,540 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, marking its third highest single-day spike since the pandemic began.
The additional cases raised the nationwide total to 47,873, of which 34,178 are considered active.
A total of 1,309 have died in the country due to the disease, while 12,386 others have recovered.
