MANILA - The Office of the Ombudsman announced that former Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Edilberto Sandoval has started buckling down to work as chief of the Office of the Special Prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman.
“SP Edilberto Sandoval assumed office last Wednesday,” Office of the Ombudsman Public Information and Media Relations Bureau chief Atty. Rawnsle Lopez said in a text message.
Sandoval, who started as an Associate Justice at the Sandiganbayan in 1996, became its Presiding Justice in 2010.
Among the controversial cases that have swamped the Office of the Special Prosecutor and are still pending at the Sandiganbayan are the pork barrel scam cases of more than twenty former lawmakers, including plunder cases of former senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, and Bong Revilla Jr.
