DFA reports no new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total still at 8,679

MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday said there are no new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad.

With this development, the number of infected Philippine nationals overseas remains at 8,679.

The DFA also reported no new fatalities.

Of the total cases, 2,901 are active while majority, 5,201, have recovered, and 577 succumbed to the disease. 

These cases are from 62 countries and regions.

The breakdown by region of those undergoing treatment is as follows: 127 in the Asia Pacific; 472 in Europe; 2,183 in the Middle East and Africa; and 119 in the Americas.

 The Philippines reported a record 2,434 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the country’s total to 44,254.

Of this number, 1,297 have died while 11,942 have recovered.
