DAVAO CITY - The daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Friday confirmed the alliance of her Hugpong ng Pagbabago political party with Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, who is a member of the Nacionalista Party.
The Commission on Elections has accredited the newly-created regional political party and Duterte-Carpio said she began recruiting politicians up to the barangay level.
Hugpong ng Pagbabago has new members after she administered the oath of more than a thousand barangay officials in Davao Oriental.
"Since its only a regional political party what we do is we have alliances with other political party in other region cities and municipalities," she said.
Hugpong ng Pagbabago’s nationwide recruitment will start in Ilocos Norte, she added.
In an interview last June 22 in Davao City, Marcos said there could be party alliances with Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
"There will be alliances. Political alliances. Party alliances. Those like me who will not be accepted. Party affiliations," she said.
