MANILA - Dozens of government websites were still down on Wednesday due to server malfunction, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Among the websites that were not yet accessible to the public as of this posting were those of the Office of the President, Office of the Vice President, and the Department of Health, among others.
DICT officer-in-charge Eliseo Rio Jr. earlier said in a statement that a team from technology company IBM has been working to fix server issues caused by hardware problems.
"We have to assure everyone that there was no hacking incident, and IBM can attest to this. DICT would like to apologize to the public for this unfortunate incident," he said.
DICT initially reported Tuesday that 170 government websites were down due to server problems. Rio hopes the problem could be resolved within the week. -- report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
