CAGAYAN DE ORO - Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno has admitted his family is going through a difficult time after his eldest son Sean Moreno was arrested for possession and selling of ecstasy on June 29.
"This is a very difficult time that Sean and the family are going through," Moreno said.
Sean and 7 other suspects were arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives in a hotel in Angeles City, Pampanga after they were caught with over P1 million worth of party drugs.
Sean, along with the other suspects, tested positive for illegal drugs according to PDEA.
Moreno said that as a father, he has to ensure his son’s safety while in detention.
“As a father, my first reaction was to ensure his safety while in detention, and to provide legal support. Even if he has gone astray, Sean is still my son, [of] whom I took very special care since his birth. I deeply regret the situation that Sean is in now,” Moreno said.
"I will endlessly continue to struggle, thinking about what led him to this," he added.
The mayor, however, is still positive that his son, 42, would still have a "bright" future.
“We pray that Sean will still have a bright tomorrow,” Moreno said.
