Dogfight for Speaker
The fight for the position of House Speaker is turning out to be a bruising melee with propaganda and allegations of vote-buying swirling about. House Speaker aspirant Alan Peter Cayetano will be guest on ANC’s "Headstart" to discuss the matter. Another aspirant Pantaleon Alvarez took his oath and said he hopes to become Speaker again.
Meanwhile, newbie congressmen are still taking executive courses and occupying their new offices while the possibility of an impeachment case against President Rodrigo Duterte hangs over the House, which is tasked by law to receive such complaints. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo will be on ANC’s "Early Edition" to talk about this subject.
The military said it is open to the extension of Martial Law following the blast in Sulu. Authorities have said the blast was the handiwork of the Abu Sayyaf. The government said the perpetrators will pay.
