MANILA - Thirty-four more Filipinos abroad contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), raising the total of infections among overseas Philippine nationals to 8,467, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday.
Of the total cases, 2,829 are active since majority have recovered, and 547 others succumbed to the disease.
These cases are from 59 countries and regions.
The total number of recoveries is now at 5,091.
The breakdown by region of those undergoing treatment is as follows: 85 in the Asia Pacific; 474 in Europe; 2,121 in the Middle East and Africa; and 149 in the Americas.
In the Philippines, 36,438 people have been infected, of whom 1,255 died and 9,956 have recovered.
