MANILA—The low pressure area spotted off Catanduanes is forecast to develop into tropical depression Egay in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
The brewing storm was last located at an estimated 780 kilometers east of Virac town, Catanduanes at 3 p.m., PAGASA said.
It, however, has a low chance of making landfall, according to PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren.
The southwest monsoon, meanwhile, will continue to bring rains to Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Zambales, and Bataan.
PAGASA advised residents at risk of flooding and landslides to exercise caution and continue monitoring for weather updates.
