MANILA - The Department of Education (DepEd) on Saturday reminded the public that it would still be accepting enrollment applications until June 30, Tuesday, as schools prepared for blended learning methods amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“The Department of Education (DepEd) is reminding those who still intend to enroll in public schools to do so on or before June 30, 2020, Tuesday, as it is about to wrap up its month-long enrollment period,” it said in a statement.
The DepEd reiterated that it is accepting enrollment through forms that may be submitted remotely or through drop-boxes. It has discouraged physical enrollment as a measure against the coronavirus disease.
Education authorities have sought to employ distance learning methods - involving online or offline teaching methods - while face-to-face learning is suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Classes are set to begin on August 24.
Government data showed around 15,182,075 students have enrolled, among them 14,548,915 in public schools.
For questions, DepEd urged the public to contact their barangay or the nearest division office or school.
