MANILA - Moro National Liberation Front founding chairman and former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao governor Nur Misuari has asked the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division to allow him to withdraw his P920,000 travel bond used for his recent trips to the Middle East.
“That he has no plan of going abroad in the foreseeable future and would now like to withdraw his travel bond,” Misuari’s counsel Arthur Lim said in a motion filed before the court.
Misuari is facing two counts of graft and two counts of malversation with falsification of documents for the allegedly anomalous purchase of educational materials amounting to P77 million when he was ARMM governor in 2001.
In his motion, Misuari’s counsel also asked for the cancellation of pre-trial dates and marking of exhibits from July 2 to 5, 2019 as they need more time to prepare for the cases.
“That as regards the scheduled marking of exhibits and pre-trial, he would like to postpone the same for the last time as he needs further time to locate, collate and compile relevant documentary exhibits, this could be better appreciated if we consider that the alleged offenses happened in 2001 yet the criminal complaint was filed against him only in 2017 - an unjust delay in any language,” Lim said.
