Phivolcs describes Intensity 4 as "moderately strong." It can be felt like the passing of a heavy truck and can rattle wood-framed buildings, the agency said.
Intensity 1, meanwhile, may move delicately balanced objects and water in containers.
Phivolcs said no major damage and aftershocks were expected from the earthquake.
