DFA reports 27 new COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos

MANILA - Twenty seven more Filipinos abroad contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), raising the total of overseas infections among Philippine nationals to 8,351, the country's foreign ministry said Wednesday.

Of the total cases, only 2,767 are active as majority have recovered while 512 others have succumbed to the disease. The cases are reported from 56 countries and regions.

The total recoveries is up by 15 to 5,072, while four were added to the list of fatalities.

The breakdown by region of the active cases which are undergoing treatment is as follows: 82 in the Asia Pacific, 450 in Europe, 2,087 in the Middle East and Africa, and 148 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, 32,295 people have acquired the disease, of whom, 1,204 died and 8,656 have recovered.
