MANILA -- The Sandiganbayan 5th Division will resume its hearings on the plunder case of former senator Jinggoy Estrada and businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles on July 8.

Estrada and Napoles are set to present evidence to prove their innocence in the multi-billion peso Priority Development Assistance Fund scam after the court denied their demurrer or petition to trash the prosecution's evidence.

The court had noted in its resolution denying the demurrer plea that the evidence was sufficient to convict them unless rebutted by contrary evidence.

Government prosecutors had insisted Estrada got more than P70 million as kickbacks from Napoles, citing a report from the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
