Schools that are part of the Aksyon ng Kabataan Organization NGO are doing their part to help frontliners fighting through the COVID-19 crisis. Handout

A number of schools distributed some 1,000 meals to frontliners at Philippine General Hospital and other health facilities, as the country continues to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Assumption San Lorenzo, Ateneo, La Salle Greenhills, Miriam College, Poveda and Xavier School all took part in the campaign dubbed Project Kahayan.

The schools are part of the Aksyon ng Kabataan Organization NGO.

“We are encouraging the youth to reach out and show their support in this very trying time,” said Sam Villavicencio, the organization’s executive director and co-founder.

“It is a way of extending our gratitude (to the frontliners).”

Besides the PGH, other beneficiaries include: Manila Central University Hospital, Ortigas Hospital and Healthcare Center, Pasig Doctors Hospital, Perpetual Help Medical Center, PGH Neurosurgery, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Red Cross, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, and VRP Medical Center.
