Military warns of scams using Marawi crisis

AFP reveals scams taking advantage of Marawi crisis 

MANILA - The Armed Forces of the Philippines warned the public of scams taking advantage of the Marawi crisis to earn money. 

AFP Spokesman Brigadier General Restituto Padilla reported an increase of fundraising activities such as benefit lunches and dinners for the families of soldiers and evacuees in Marawi. 

He reminded the public that only two Land Bank accounts have been authorized to receive public donations in behalf of evacuees and families of soldiers killed in Marawi.

"We would like to ask everybody to be on the lookout for these scammers and let your telcos know of the numbers they're using so that they can be blocked and cannot go on with their nefarious activities," Padilla said.

For the families of Soldiers Killed-in-Action:
Account Name: AFP Marawi Casualty

For civilians displaced by the Marawi crisis:
Account Name: Marawi IDP (For Internally Displaced Persons)
And the Account Number is: ‎00000552107136

Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella reported that as of Tuesday, June 20 2017, financial donations for families of soldiers killed in action is now at P508,500, up from the previous total of P224,000.

Meanwhile, total donations for Marawi evacuees is now at P187,500 increased from the balance of P21,000.
