MANILA (UPDATE) - A magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook parts of Batangas, Cavite and Laguna on Wednesday at 9:18 a.m., according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The epicenter of the quake was located at 3 kilometers northwest of Los Baños, Laguna. The quake's depth of focus is measured at 9 kilometers.
Phivolcs said the quake is tectonic in origin.
The following intensities were recorded following the quake:
Intensity IV- Los Baños and Alaminos, Laguna; Malvar and Tanauan City, Batangas
Intensity III- Lipa, San Rafael and Santo Tomas, Batangas
Intensity II- Cuenca, Batangas
Instrumental Intensity II was also recorded in Tagaytay City in Cavite.
No damage or aftershocks are expected, according to Phivolcs.
Phivolcs earlier reported that the quake was measured at magnitude 3.2 but upgraded it to magnitude 4.5 an hour after.
