One of the divers tasked to look for the body of Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Boniel in the waters off Lapu-lapu City in Cebu was rescued after he ran out of oxygen supply.

The diver was identified as Melecio Quiao.

He had been sent by the local government of unit of Bien Unido in Bohol to search for the mayor's body.

Quiao was participating in the search and retrieval operations of Task Force Boniel in Caubian Island.

He said they had a hard time diving because of the strong underwater current.

The Bien Unido mayor went missing after she was allegedly kidnapped and killed by her husband, Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel.

Her body, reportedly dumped at sea, has yet to be found.
