MANILA - State weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday it is monitoring a new low-pressure area (LPA) east of the country.

Weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said the weather disturbance may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday.

He added that the LPA is likely to develop into a tropical depression and would be named "Dodong," the country's fourth tropical cyclone this year.

In PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin, the brewing storm was last spotted off 1,385 kilometers east-southeast of Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country would experience cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.
