12 suspected Maute members indicted for rebellion

Twelve of the 13 suspected Maute members arrested in Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center in Pagadian City have been indicted for rebellion.

The 13th member, Junaid Ampasao Dimarogong alias Ameodin Ameril, died in transit to Cagayan de Oro City.

The 12 suspects who underwent inquest proceedings for rebellion were:

-- Racma Macatuon Talib
-- Lambo Ampaso Ameril
-- Huwarda Macatuon Talib
-- Cosnia M. Talib

-- Sanabae Saliling Macatuon
-- Amerodin Capga Ameril
-- Yusoph Taha Halil
-- Dima Ampaso Ali

-- Sacapan Mustapha Talib alias Sacapan Sabar Talib
-- Halil Saliling Ali
-- Mansawi Imam Gumobat
-- Alanoden Macatuon Dimarugong. 

Prosecutors on Tuesday filed rebellion charges against the 12 individuals.

In the charge sheet, prosecutors said the accused had conspired with several other still-unidentified members of the ISIS-linked Maute group who are "now actively engaged in an armed rebellion against the government."

It said those charged "did then there willfully, feloniously help, support, finance, promote, maintain, cause, direct and have risen publicly and taken arms" to establish and Islamic State province in Mindanao. 

The suspects arrived at the hospital Friday morning.

Clashes between government troops and terrorists have continued for nearly four weeks now.

As of Monday, the military said 257 militants, 62 soldiers and 26 civilians had been killed. Hundreds of people are unaccounted for, believed to be hiding in the basements of the city. - report from Johnson Manabat, DZMM
