MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday 37 more Filipinos abroad contracted coronavirus disease (COVID-19), raising the total tally of overseas infections among Filipino nationals to 6,128.
The respiratory illness also killed 11 more overseas Filipinos, bringing the death toll to 483, the agency said.
The number of those who survived from COVID-19 is also up by 6 to 2,849, it added.
“Today’s 37 new cases reported by our Foreign Service Posts in Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and Middle East bring the total number of Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19 to 6,128 - of which are 6 new recoveries from two countries in Asia and the Pacific and Middle East and 11 new fatalities recorded in two countries in the Middle East as well,” the DFA said in a statement.
To date, some 2,796 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 78 in the Asia Pacific Region, 538 in Europe, 2,022 in the Middle East and Africa and 158 in the Americas.
In the Philippines, the COVID-19 has so far sickened 28,459 people, with 1,130 deaths and 7,378 recoveries.
