MANILA - Quezon City on Wednesday recorded 36 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the city to 2,725.

In its latest bulletin, the Quezon city government said that of the total, 1,422 have recovered while 215 others died. 

The remaining 968 are active or recovering cases, according to officials.

Among the city's districts, District 4 has the most number of coronavirus cases with 696, followed by District 6 (515) and District 1 (486).

District 3 has 356 infections, while District 2 has 288 and District 5 with 264.

Quezon City officials earlier placed certain areas under 14-day "special concern lockdown" due to their high number of COVID-19 cases.

The areas placed under lockdown were:

  • Sitio Militar in Bahay Toro
  • Calle 29 in Libis
  • Kaingin Bukid in Apolonio Samson 
  • 138 Ermin Garcia St. in E Rodriguez 
  • 52 Imperial St. in E. Rodriguez

As of Wednesday, the Philippines has 27,238 COVID-19 cases, with 6,820 recoveries and 1,108 fatalities, based on official tally.
