MANILA - A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Batanes province Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor hit at 1:22 p.m., some 73 kilometers southwest of Sabtang town.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 37 kilometers.
The tremor was felt in the following areas:
• Intensity II - Basco, Batanes
• Intensity III - Basco, Batanes
No aftershocks nor damage is expected from the earthquake.
