COVID-19 recoveries in QC soar above 1,400

MANILA - Quezon City on Tuesday recorded 33 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of recovered patients in the city to 1,402, the local government said.

The city government added that 2,689 COVID-19 cases have been documented in Quezon City, of whom 953 are still active or recovering.

The coronavirus death toll in the city went up to 214 after one new fatality was logged Tuesday.

Among the city's districts, District 4 has the most number of coronavirus cases with 694, followed by District 6 (507) and District 1 (468).

District 3 has 356 infections, while District 2 has 285 and District 5 with 259.

Quezon City officials earlier placed certain areas under 14-day "special concern lockdown" due to their high number of COVID-19 cases.

The areas placed under lockdown were:

  • Sitio Militar in Bahay Toro
  • Calle 29 in Libis
  • Kaingin Bukid in Apolonio Samson 
  • 138 Ermin Garcia St. in E Rodriguez 
  • 52 Imperial St. in E. Rodriguez

To date, the Philippines has 26,781 COVID-19 cases, with 6,552 recoveries and 1,103 fatalities.
