DFA: 25 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total now at 5,566

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday said 25 Filipinos abroad recently caught the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of overseas cases among Filipino nationals to 5,566.

At least 2,497 overseas have however recovered from the illness, DFA added.

Meanwhile, 17 more Filipinos abroad died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of fatalities to 426.

To date, some 2,643 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, per region: 103 in Asia-Pacific, 488 in Europe, 1,889 in the Middle East and Africa, and 163 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the number of COVID-19 cases climbed to 26,420 on Monday. The tally includes 1,098 fatalities and 6,252 recoveries.
